We caught up with the multihyphenate about what’s been keeping her busy

Kim Chiu on the movie Always

Kim Chiu is back on the big screen—and this time, she’s starring in a film with her long-time beau, Xian Lim. A Philippine adaptation of the 2011 Korean film of the same title, Always follows the tale of a woman who is losing her vision and a boxer who’s losing his will in life.

During an appearance for her Hairfix endorsement, the actress, It’s Showtime host, singer, and vlogger shared how delighted she is in working on this drama film.

Kim took note especially of how the audience received their comeback movie so well, and feels so grateful for the positive feedback. The last movie Kim and Xian starred in together was 2015’s All You Need Is Pag-Ibig, while on the small screen, they both led the cast of 2020’s Love Thy Woman.

Hindi kami makapaniwala kasi since nag-showing siyaang dami naming block screening,” Kim muses. “Very thankful kami ni Xian.”

And since it’s been a while since her last big screen project, the Always lead actress pointed out how it challenged her as an artist. “Super ibang experience. Nakakapanibago,” she describes.

When asked about her favorite line from the film, she easily answers, “You are my rock.” And for viewers, it’s understandable why that line stands out, expressing the love formed between two people who need one another to stand together and rose above the challenges.

But apart from the film, Kim’s schedule is filled with other endeavors. Kim, along with Hairfix and charity organization Hair For Hope, recently conducted a hair donation drive for cancer patients of the Philippine General Hospital. “Nagbibigay ito ng hope and confidence sa cancer patients,” she says about what she loves about the initiative. Hair for Hope is a charity organization aiming to improve the quality of life of cancer patients. The proceeds from Hairfix’s accumulated product purchases have been utilized to raise funds to provide hair wigs, which was distributed in participation with the Philippine General Hospital.Lifestrong Hairfix provides a complete Do-It-Yourself hair care solution catering to every hair need from hair essentials, hair treatments, hair color, hair styling, and general merchandise.

Among the things that keep Kim busy is creating content for her YouTube channel, which currently has almost 3 million subscribers. On her channel, she vlogs about her everyday life as well as her adventures with the hashtag #CHIUrista (a play on her surname and the Filipino word turista or tourist). “Humahabol ako sa YouTube and Tiktok,” Kim says of embracing her being a digital content creator. “It’s a bigger world for each and everyone. With the digital era now, it’s different now than before.”
