Actress **Julia Barretto** is at the center of a **fierce controversy** after a group of tourists accused the **famous tourist island** of being closed because of her presence. In response to the wave of criticism, Julia quickly spoke out to completely deny these accusations.
The incident began when some tourists expressed their anger on social media, claiming that they were **denied entry to the island** because “a famous person” was there. Immediately, the name **Julia Barretto** was called out, leading to a series of criticisms that she had affected the public’s interests.
Not letting the rumor spread, Julia responded **extremely harshly**:
*”I had nothing to do with the closure of the island! This is completely false information!”*
She affirmed that she did not request any special privileges and did not have enough power to influence the island’s management’s decision to close. Julia believes that this misunderstanding may have stemmed from the resort’s own policies, but **she was not the main reason**.
Although Julia has spoken out to clarify, the controversy continues to rage. Some netizens defend the actress, saying that **she should not be blamed** for a decision that she had no control over. Meanwhile, others remain skeptical, demanding **clearer evidence** from the resort’s management.
This incident is still attracting great public attention. Will Julia continue to clarify this situation? The public is waiting to see what happens next in this unexpected drama.
On Facebook on March 12, Julia Barretto immediately clarified that she had no knowledge of the temporary area closures implemented by the local government of Camiguin while she was shooting there recently, at the invitation of the LGU heads there for their tourism campaign. In short, it’s a collab.
This was in response to the alleged ‘false accusations’ from a local tourist, who, because of the inconvenience, immediately accused Julia of ordering the closures and even labeled her ‘entitled’ and ‘selfish’ in her own Facebook post.
Julia said she would not tolerate baseless accusations but she would not tolerate the spread of ‘misinformation’ aimed at distorting her character as a person.
“To assume that I had the authority to dictate such decisions is both unfair and misleading,” she insisted.
Here is Julia’s full post about the incident in Camiguin:
“Hi everyone,
“Last weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to visit Camiguin upon the invitation of its local leaders. From March 1-3, we partnered with them on a tourism project aimed at showcasing the island’s rich history, culture, and natural beauty. It was an honor to contribute to their vision and support the local community.
“However, I have recently been made aware of false accusations regarding my involvement in temporary area closures during our shoot. A particular Nikka Kho has publicly claimed that I ordered these closures, labeling me as entitled and selfish.
“To clarify: I was not involved in any decisions regarding closures. The coordination and management of the locations were entirely under the jurisdiction of the local government. I was only informed that certain areas would be momentarily closed during the shoot, which I understood as part of their commitment to ensuring the success of their tourism initiatives. To assume that I had the authority to dictate such decisions is both unfair and misleading.
“While I usually do not engage with baseless accusations, I will not tolerate misinformation that misrepresents my character, my work, or the purpose of Juju On The Go. This project has always been about celebrating destinations, supporting communities, and sharing meaningful experiences.
“Furthermore, I take this matter seriously and am currently seeking legal advice regarding the spread of false and misleading information, including a manipulated TikTok video with fake audio that aims to misrepresent me.
“To Nikka Kho: I hope neither you nor anyone in your life would have to experience the kind of unfounded attack and cruel words you have directed at me without having knowledge of what has transpired. Words have weight, and spreading misinformation can cause real harm.”
Nikka Kho’s open letter post, addressed to the LGU and tourism office of Catarman, Camiguin, and to Julia, can be considered a call out for the local authorities for better tourism policies. Hopefully, ‘paying tourists’ will be notified of this so that they can change their plans. They are feeling left out because a celebrity has been prioritized over them.
The sad thing is, it seems that he rushed to judge Julia that she was the one responsible for the temporary closure of the place they wanted to visit. And because of that, he told Julia and her team: “Shutting down an entire public island for hours with no regard for others is selfish and entitled.”
Here is the full post by tourist Nikka Kho:
“Last weekend, we traveled to Camiguin for a short but well-planned trip, excited to explore its beautiful tourist spots. Our itinerary included White Island, Mantigue Island, and Katibawasan Falls. However, our plans were disrupted when we were suddenly informed that Mantigue Island was closed for a celebrity shoot—without any prior public announcement.
“We were told the island would reopen at 12 PM, so we rushed to make it in time. Upon arrival, we found frustrated tourists waiting, including those who had flights to catch. Despite assurances, the shoot extended past 1 PM, forcing many to cancel or reschedule their plans.
“To the LGU of Camiguin, prioritizing a single celebrity over numerous paying tourists is unacceptable. If closures are necessary, proper advance notice should be given—at least a week prior—to prevent unnecessary inconvenience.
“To Julia Barretto and your team, while we respect your work, shutting down an entire public island for hours with no regard for others is selfish and entitled. If efficiency mattered, you could have started earlier instead of occupying Mantigue Island at peak hours. Instead of gaining admiration, you turned potential fans into critics.
“Tourists visit Camiguin to appreciate its beauty, not to be sidelined for a celebrity’s convenience. We hope this serves as a wake-up call for better policies and consideration in the future.”
As of this writing, we have learned from Viva Artists Agency that Julia is seeking legal advice regarding Kho’s post. It also reportedly reminded the public of the importance of ‘responsible communication.’
