Iya Villania Reminisces How Hard It Was To Be A First-Time Mom, Thought She Would Stop At 2

In an Instagram post on June 8, the mom of four reminisced about her first-time mom days.

Iya wrote, “2016. Back when we just had Primo and realized that mothering is hard. I was so exhausted.”

Coming from a big family, the host and actress mentioned, she knew she wanted to have a lot of kids. “But after having Primo I was settling with the idea of just having 2 here,” Iya said.

In an interview with Smart Parenting way back in 2017, Iya explained in detail what was her life like as a first-time mom.

“I’ll be honest and admit that my first two months was like hell. I was not used to the puyat, I felt like I couldn’t enjoy being with Primo. Because I’m so tired, gusto ko lang siyang patulugin everytime I’m with him. He was one baby na hindi niya type matulog, so hindi rin ako masyadong nakakatulog. The first 2 months were hard. It was so hard, pano ginawa ni Mommy ‘to? I don’t know how my mom did it, at wala pa siyang yaya nung time na yun,” she told Smart Parenting.

She added, “But after the second month, I started to find my groove. Things got easier, he was starting to reciprocate, he was starting to smile back and that’s really when the magic happens. I loved him from the start, but it was like a one-way relationship kasi syempre he can’t really express himself, all he does is cry. When he started to smile back, especially now that he really reaches for me na, “Oh my gosh, sobrang sarap!”

Iya concluded her post, “I’m so glad it was just a phase.”

After two years came Primo’s baby brother Leon, then his first sister Duday, then his youngest brother Duduy.

Now, as her husband Drew Arellano, aptly puts it they are at “phase 5.”

Celebrities and their followers got excited with Drew’s hint saying, there might be a possibility for a baby #5!

One user said, “Wala ka na naman pong biyahe?” referring to Drew’s travel show.

Iya’s close friend Hannah Romawac meanwhile said, “Wahahahaha (nervous laugh).”

In reply to Drew, Iya said, “Hoy! Linawin mo yung phase 5, pare!!!!”

One of their friends, Javy O, also asked in the thread, “May announcement ba?” Iya told them to just relax.

In January, the couple dropped hints on Instagram about having a fifth child, and netizens were very happy about it.

But Iya clarified, while having kids is addicting, she is not yet pregnant.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see! As one user said, “Here for phase 5.”
