Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez wants to travel with husband Ogie Alcasid (not in photo) while they can after retirement: “So, that’s what we wanna do. That’s what I wanna do. That’s why we’re trying to be smart with our earnings. Again, and that’s why we work so hard now to prepare for the inevitable.”
Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez is preparing for the possibility of her retirement from singing one day.
This was what the ASAP Natin ‘To host apparently happily admitted in MJ Felipe’s On Cue interview on ABS-CBN News on YouTube on March 7, 2025.
The interview with Regine was in connection with the celebration of Women’s Month this March.
Regine is a mother, a respected singer and concert performer, a wife, and a friend.
One of the things discussed in the interview was retirement.
According to Regine, she is not afraid but rather excited about it. But she said it is still a long time coming.
She said: “No, I’m excited. Actually, not really.
“It’s like, I’m trying to… what do you call that? Prepare myself for that.
“I mean, it’s not gonna happen soon, but I’m preparing myself for that.
“Because this work is very addicting, admit it.
“Because what, it’s all instant gratification, eh. Especially when you’re doing a concert, instant gratification, eh.
“So, I’m preparing myself, ‘It’s okay for me to be disappointed while I’m doing a concert. Maybe this is God’s way of letting me know, okay, slowly.’
“So you can’t… so when I get to the point where I really need to decide, ‘Yeah, I think it’s my time to stop,’ it wouldn’t be too hard for me.” And the thing is, I’m sure I’m gonna miss it.
“But, well, it seems like it won’t be all of a sudden.”
She and her husband, Ogie Alcasid, are already preparing for it.
According to Asia’s Songbird: “It’s been a while. I don’t look like 100 yet. So, little by little.
“And that’s it, I’m preparing, my husband and I are preparing for it. Especially since he’s a bit older than me.
“So, we’ve been talking about it, ‘If this is the case, Hon, maybe I’ll lie low for a bit.’
“So, I’m also thinking, ‘Me too, Hon.'”
Regine is 54, while Ogie is 57.
One of the plans of the couple is to travel while their health allows.
Regine said: “And then, we wanna travel while we still can.
“So, that’s what we wanna do. That’s what I wanna do.
“That’s why we’re trying to be smart with our earnings.
“Again, and that’s why we work so hard now to prepare for the inevitable.” REGINE ON BEING MENOPAUSAL: “it has greatly affected my voice.”
Regine’s successful Reset concert series at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater recently was also discussed.
It was held over four nights where each of her performances was packed.
