It turns out that singer-songwriter Jake Zyrus’ net worth reached almost P1 billion when he was still working as Charice Pempengco.

Some people posted on Facebook several pages of Jake’s memoir and one of them was about his finances. He only found out about his “net worth” when he spoke to his accountant.

According to Jake, at the height of his career, his highest net worth was said to have reached $16,000,000 or more than P927,000,000.

“But when you’re a celebrity, people expect to find you decked out in designer clothes all the time.

“Imagine how I felt when as an adult who should be able to handle my own money, I met my accountant for the first time and learned that when I went on tour, I could earn up to $600,000. “When I sang at private events, I could get up to $300,000. Endorsement in States earned me up to $1,000,000. At one point, my net worth was $16,000,000,” is written in Jake’s book.

At that time, it was said that his mother, Raquel Pempengco, was handling his finances.

“I’m not worth $16,000,000 anymore, but I assure you, I am richer than Charice. She only knew how much she was worth, but she never actually got to touch or enjoy her earnings.

“Sure, I saw houses being built and cars being bought using my money, but I was always told they weren’t mine,” Jake said.

He added, “If I needed to use one of our cars, I had to ask permission from my mother.

“Sometimes, she would refuse my request. It’s only that I finally know what it’s like to have a house under my name and a car I can use anytime I wish,” he said to his mother.

This issue seems to have been included in Raquel’s response via her Facebook account where she called her son’s book fake news.

“There’s another fake news. It’s said to be from a book. Bashers, that book isn’t updated… Watch out for me to update that book.

“You have different issues. Do you think I’m famous? Others are just making up stories. You might be surprised when I tell the story.

“So stop with that fake news. You are a scourge of society. My beauty is diminishing a little… Just a little,” Jake’s mother said.

She also said in a separate post, “I would still choose peace of mind over hitting on useless people and ungrateful people. They are the ones who will take everything.

“The truth still prevails… But no matter what, my blood still flows in your veins, and you can only remove that when you’re already dead,” Raquel said boldly.

She also said she is used to being constantly portrayed as a villain but she stressed that no book can change the truth.

“That’s your story, I’m probably bad. But I don’t know that story… I’m used to being called bad. If that’s what you’re going to enjoy. I accept my name ‘Evil Queen.’

“As long as I know my own story, I won’t include it in the book because I don’t want to embarrass anyone and add to the ‘Evil’.
