Vice Ganda grills Kim Chiu on relationship status
Kim Chiu’s love life once again became a topic on “It’s Showtime” in its August 20 episode, when the actress was asked whether she has been introduced to her significant other’s family.
Chiu, whose screen tandem with Paulo Avelino has courted a massive fanbase, couldn’t escape Vice Ganda’s grilling questions about her current relationship status.
MANILA, Philippines — The hosts of noontime variety show “It’s Showtime” poked fun at the romantic entanglements of one of their own, with Valentine’s Day closing in.
During the “Expecially For You” segment of the show that aired last February 9, Vice Ganda prayed over one of the guest searchees after quipping that no one really does when they say “I’ll pray for you.”
Amy Perez then chipped in that praying means asking for something specific, recounting she wrote what she looked for in a potential partner and read it every morning, praying and manifesting for it each time.
Vhong Navarro then noticed Kim Chiu walking away and asked where she was headed, and Kim said with a laugh, “Pray lang ako!”
Kim’s response had her fellow hosts into raptures and they circled around the host-actress to “pray” over her.
“Ipag-pray natin siya! Anong gusto mo? Isu-support ka namin!,” exclaimed Vice, later singing in jest “Lead Me Lord” and putting on a spin on “Ang Buhay ng Kristiyano (Ay Masayang Tunay)” by replacing “Kristiyano” with “isang single.
As Vice carried on singing “Ang buhay ng isang single ay masayang tunay,” Kim continued to push back at her co-hosts’ teasing.
“Pero serious ‘yun ah, may the Lord give you what your heart desires,” Vice assured Kim, who quipped she should be the one participating in “Expecially For You.”
For context, the segment involves a guest searchee attempting to find a new partner with the help of their ex.
Last December, Kim officially ended her years-long relationship with fellow actor Xian Lim. Meanwhile, fans have been speculating a possible pairing between Kim and her “Linlang” co-star Paulo Avelino.
The hosts called Kim on her joke and dared which potential suitor and ex would appear with her, a prospect which had Kim hiding behind one of the sets.
To settle nerves, Vice quipped that ABS-CBN executive Lauren Dyogi would sit beside Kim to help her find a partner, which Kim played along with in jest.
Kim and Paulo will reunite for the Filipino adaptation of the popular Korean series “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim.”
