Xian Lim says he did not initiate the breakup with Kim Chiu
MANILA — Actor Xian Lim says he is still friends with ex-girlfriend Kim Chiu, after they confirmed the end of their 12-year relationship last December 2023.
“Of course,” Lim said when asked if he remains friends with his ex-girlfriend during an appearance in “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” on Wednesday.
However, Lim also bared that he has not had the chance to talk with Chiu again after their separation, as a show of respect for each other.
“Because Tito Boy, to be completely honest ever since we went our separate ways, we haven’t been able to talk. But of course, when that night happened, we had a good conversation. Of course, there was crying but there was that assurance that we went through 12 years of our existence, it has that respect,” he said The actor is also aware of the controversies he needed to face, after he and Chiu parted ways.
“There are so many stories, especially that’s what is difficult in a public relationship. And they’ve been there since day one, when they were courting all the way to more than a decade… People come up with all these made of these lies, whatever. But, we released our statement that we both decided to part ways,” he explains.
Without going into the details, Lim revealed that he was not the one who ended their relationship.
“To be completely honest I wasn’t the one engaged in the separation, that’s all he is, it’s that simple,” he said. “I know they’re saying that….”
Asked if he did not initiate the break-up, Lim said: “Yeah, I wasn’t the one who initiated the break-up.”
The actor also reacted to the mixed emotions of their supporters, who have backed him and Chiu for more than a decade.
“I understand why the supporters are angry, I understand why they feel betrayed. But it also hurts us,” he said. “They’re watching us from a distance. Here are the two of us, you know, we have our talks.”
“We talked privately. There’s no need to argue about who was at fault. I think the length speaks for itself, and the criticism of me by the majority, I think they should look at it from us… For more than a decade, I never had any… My record is clean, and I am proud of that,” he added.
“You’re not gonna see me in places you’re not supposed to see me, so that’s all he is. The time speaks for itself.”
According to Lim, he is also saddened by all the allegations and fake reports that came along after they parted ways.
“It’s just sad that there are many intrigues coming out especially against me and I don’t want to make it seem like that or why is Xian the one making a fuss now, what is being said because there is a movie promo. It’s just a very delicate thing and I do understand why people are upset, but we are okay,” he said.
Just last Friday, Chiu had broken her silence amid Lim’s repeated statements about their relationship.
The Kapamilya actress said: “It ended, the journey was beautiful. I don’t want to be bad anymore. It’s just a repeat. Let’s give it a rest and let’s leave respect for each other.
