Filipino celebrities paid tribute to veteran actress Gloria Romero who passed away on Saturday.

Barbie Forteza, who Romero worked with in “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko” and “The Half Sisters,” shared on X (formerly Twitter) an old photo of her and the late actress.

“This is so heartbreaking,” she said. “Buong buhay ko pong ipagmamalaki na nakatrabaho ko po kayo. Rest in paradise, Ms. Gloria Romero.”

Meanwhile, Vilma Santos took to her Instagram stories to mourn for the loss of her Tita Glo.

In her post, the actress-politician posted a photo of Romero and wrote: “Our condolences and prayers. Rest in Peace, Tita Glo! I love you.”

Celebrity photographer Mark paid respect to Gloria by sharing some of her beautiful portraits he took.

“Paying full respects to The First Lady of Philippine Cinema.. Gloria Romero..1933-2025.. Rest In Peace Mam. Thank you for these photographs and the unforgettable times with you in front of my camera,” he wrote.

Direk Mark Reyes also mourned Romero’s passing, saying that, “it was a great privilege to direct her.”

They worked together in the 2006 movie “Moments of Love” and “The Half Sisters” in 2014.

“Tita Glo, you are the epitome of a Movie Queen. The marquee of Philippine Entertainment will glow less brighter tonight. Rest well in our father’s eternal grace,” he said in an Instagram post.

Charo Santos also took to Instagram to wrote a heartfelt tribute message for Romero, who she called as a “guiding light.”

“As a young girl, I was mesmerized by her beauty and brilliance on the silver screen. Watching her movies felt like entering a world of magic, where she brought every character to life with such authenticity, elegance and grace,” Santos began as she shared some photos of Romero.

“Tita Glo wasn’t just an icon; she was a guiding light for so many of us. She showed us how to carry success with humility, how to navigate challenges with grace, and how to leave a legacy that transcends time,” Santos added.

Amy Perez, who worked with Romero in shows such as “Palibhasa Lalaki,” also took time to honor her.

On Instagram, the “It’s Showtime” host shared an endearing moment between her and Romero where she can be seen hugging the late actress.

“Mommy, I will miss you. Thank you for everything. Rest now in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. Love you forever,” Amy said.

 

Richard Gomez, who also starred with Romero in “Palibhasa Lalake,” took to his Instagram Stories to remember the late actress.

In his post, the actor-politician said, “You will be missed. It was fun working with you doing several movies together and in ‘Palibhasa Lalake’ for many, many years. May you rest in eternal peace.”

Shaina Magdayao is also among the celebrities who paid homage to Romero.

On Instagram Stories, the actress shared a praying scene from their movie “Tanging Yaman,” and said that Romero was the woman who taught her to pray the rosary.

“So blessed to have shared the screen with you po. But most importantly, to have learned from such a gracious soul. Salamat po for touching our lives with your beautiful presence,” Shaina said.

Romero’s death was announced by her daughter Maritess Gutierrez in a Facebook post. She was 91.

Born Gloria Anne Borrego Galla, Romero won multiple acting awards during her over 70-year career. She was recognized for her outstanding performances in films “Magnifico,” “Dalagang Ilocana,” “Tarima,” “Tanging Yaman,” and ”Rainbow’s Sunset.”
