‘Well, it’s my last day’: Kim Chiu apologizes for choice of word on ‘Showtime’
MANILA — Kim Chiu appeared to immediately regret her choice of words during the live episode of “It’s Showtime” on Wednesday, prompting her swift apology to the viewers of the noontime program.
Chiu, who was a guest co-host for the day, was interviewing a “Tawag ng Tanghalan” contestant along with Vhong Navarro and Ryan Bang when the incident happened.
In coming up with an impromptu skit inspired by the film “One More Chance,” Bang demonstrated how he would act out being jealous. His expression had the audience and his co-hosts laughing, with Chiu using a Tagalog term to describe Bang’s take as constipated.
Without using his microphone, Navarro could be seen reminding Chiu against using the word, causing the actress to say sorry to the show’s director, Bobet Vidanes, and the viewers.
“I said it wrong, I haven’t composed my feelings yet,” Chiu said, appearing guilty as the entire studio laughed.
“Hala, I’m really sorry, Director Bobet. Hala, this is really my last day. Leave it aside for all the viewers. It’s nothing, just imagine,” she said.
Co-hosts Amy Perez and Mariel Padilla were similarly amused, with the latter joking: “So T’yang Amy, you already know, tomorrow you have a public apology!”
In June 2018, it was the screen veteran who was tasked to publicly apologize on behalf of the program, and particularly a GirlTrends member, for an on-air joke about orphans that had earned criticism.
