PNP Denies Rumors of Police Resignation Following FPRRD Arrest
Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo, spokesperson of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has strongly denied reports that police officers have resigned or left their positions following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

In a press briefing, Fajardo said that they have asked their personnel if any police officers have submitted their resignations, but according to him, none have. He also denied rumors of police officers leaving and clarified that nothing like this has happened in their ranks.

Fajardo added that expressing an opinion on politics by a police officer while they are still active members of the PNP is considered a form of “partisanship.” According to him, expressing such views is not in line with proper governance within the PNP, and can lead to misunderstandings.

“In airing these views while you’re inside the PNP, short of saying you’re being partisans already… and then we don’t think that’s right,” Fajardo said.

According to him, being politically neutral is an important part of being a member of the PNP, and this is to maintain the integrity and credibility of their agency.

Fajardo also stated that some netizens who said they had resigned as police officers were not actually members of the PNP. According to him, these statements may be fabricated and should not be believed by the public.

He said, “That’s why I’m saying that we should be careful because someone might be using the situation to sow some confusion in what is happening now.”

He reminded people to be critical and not just believe unconfirmed information circulating on social media.

Fajardo admitted that there are times when political issues become a cause for discussion within government agencies, but he stressed that the PNP has rules and regulations that every member must follow to maintain order and confidentiality of their duties.

He pointed out that such issues should not cause division or disunity among their ranks, especially during times of sensitive situations such as the current events in the country.

Meanwhile, the PNP continues to monitor situations and conflicts that may cause confusion among the public. According to Fajardo, this is part of their job to ensure that any issue is clearly and honestly explained to the public.

He mentioned that the PNP is impartial and their mission is to serve honestly and justly to all citizens, regardless of their political opinions or beliefs.
