In a surprising development, famous doctor and politician Doc Willie has officially announced his withdrawal from the election, causing a stir in public opinion. But what has attracted more attention is his public statement – a statement that is not only controversial but also makes many people think.
Previously, Doc Willie was considered a potential candidate, receiving strong support from many people thanks to his image as a dedicated doctor and not involved in political scandals. However, this decision to withdraw has surprised many people.
In his speech, Doc Willie emphasized that he no longer wants to continue on the political path because “the truth is not always welcome in this world”. He also shared that he wants to focus more on public health care and raising medical awareness, instead of being caught up in power struggles.
One of Doc Willie’s quotes that made people ponder was:
“I used to believe that honesty and sincerity could change the system, but I realized that politics is not for those who only want to serve the people.”*
This statement immediately caused a wave of debate. Some people supported his point of view, saying that politics is full of conspiracies and tricks and that people with good intentions can hardly change the system. On the contrary, there were also critics who said that Doc Willie was too pessimistic and that his withdrawal could disappoint his supporters.
The withdrawal of a famous figure like Doc Willie raised many questions about transparency and fairness in politics. Are there any forces behind this decision? Or did he really realize that the political path was not for him?
In any case, one thing is certain: his statement left a big question mark in the public’s mind. Could this be a wake-up call for those who still believe in clean politics, or simply a new twist in Doc Willie’s life? Let’s see what happens next.
Doc Willie Ong feels guilty about getting treatment abroad
Even though he is battling cancer, Doc Willie Ong still thinks about the plight of other Filipinos who are similarly seriously ill. He admitted that he feels “guilty” about getting treatment abroad while many Filipino patients suffer from the poor health care system in the Philippines.
In the previous episode of “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho,” Jessica interviewed Doc Willie, who went bald before undergoing chemotherapy in Singapore for his sarcoma cancer.
In their recorded video that he posted on social media recently, Doc Willie shared that a 16-centimeter mass was found behind his heart that was causing him severe pain.
The doctor, who is also a vlogger, admitted that the doctor gave him a 50-50 cancer prognosis.
“Fifty percent to live a few more months, a year. Fifty percent, anytime, maybe I won’t be able to breathe. It’s like there’s no certainty,” according to Doc Willie.
According to Doc Winnie, he has difficulty swallowing because his esophagus is blocked by a tumor.
“I got the worst pain. It’s 10 out of 10, Jessica. Doc Liza [his wife] and I didn’t sleep all night. I screamed. You’re really screaming from the pain,” he recounted.
In extreme pain, Doc Willie said it was OK for him to take Dormicum, “to sleep it off and die.”
Now, the so-called “Doctor of the People,” says that every day he opens his eyes is a blessing.
He also no longer worries about what will happen in the future, or thinks about material things or success, because all he has in mind is what will happen in the present.
Doc Willie is receiving treatment in Singapore, where he greatly admires the system when it comes to treating patients.
He said that he could have died if he had stayed in the Philippines because of the slow healthcare system and the slow processing of laboratory tests.
“I said, if the politicians are coming here, don’t you feel sorry for our countrymen? Whether you are rich or poor, you are trapped in the Philippines. I think it is God’s will,” he said.
According to Doc Willie, the biopsy results in Singapore are known immediately. Compared to the Philippines, which takes one or two weeks. Within two days, his PET scan, CT scan, 2D Echo, biopsy were completed, and he was immediately given chemotherapy, which is one of the ways to fight cancer cells.
“In the Philippines, I have to wait one to weeks. The Philippines is weak, even Doc Willie Ong, you are still dead. What if you are Juan dela Cruz? That’s why I feel guilty,” he explained.
Sarcoma cancer is said to be a rare type of cancer that develops in the bones and soft tissues of the human body.
Among his sarcoma cancer treatments are chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. But the patient’s recovery depends on the type of cancer, the patient’s age, and where in the body it has grown.
According to Doc Willie, he is ready for whatever the doctors tell him, “‘If they say there is no hope, it’s not over, that’s it, noodles.” He also revealed his dream before he got sick that he saw his mother who passed away two years ago.
“My mommy in my dream is taking me. She called me, ‘Willie Boy come to me.’ My mother seemed to say ‘You’ve done your job on earth. You’ve done it for 60 years. I’ve been one person’s patient for 25 years without pay. One person’s pharma company can’t accommodate me. I have no foreign trips,” he said.
On October 9, Doc Willie will undergo another PET scan, at the same time, he revealed his favorite song, “God help the outcasts, children of God. That’s my song.”
