Belle Mariano Reveals That Online Bashers Used to Make Her Feel *Insecure*

“Naniniwala na rin ako sa mga sinasabi nila na hindi ko kaya.”

We usually see our favorite celebrities flashing bright smiles for the camera, so it’s easy to forget that fame always comes with bashers. Most stars have learned to brush off the naysayers, but the sheer amount of hate can sometimes get to younger actresses like Belle Mariano.

“Back in 2019, [He’s Into Her] was announced. That time, a lot of people were throwing hate at me because they thought na parang I couldn’t do it, I couldn’t portray Max,” Belle recounts in her latest Magandang Buhay guesting.

“That time parang napanghinaan ako ng loob kasi medyo naniniwala na rin ako sa sinasabi nila. Naniniwala na rin ako sa mga sinasabi nila na hindi ko kaya,” she admitted, getting emotional as she recalled the online pushback she initially received as Donny Pangilinan’s new love team partner.

Medyo na-carry away na rin ako sa mga sinasabi nila na, ‘You can’t do Max.’ Hindi ko kaya,” she added.

Fortunately, Belle soon realized that she had to channel that negativity into her work instead of dwelling on her personal insecurities. “But then that time, I came to a realization na more of thinking na negative ‘yung sinasabi nila. Oo negative, but I’ll take it as something that could really help me do better in what I do,” she said.

“I came to a realization din na I won’t be able to fulfill my purpose if tinitingnan ko ‘yung sarili ko the way they see me. I should see myself, my identity in God,” she concluded. Very well-said, Belle!

Thanks to her acting prowess and positive mindset, Belle still managed to prove the haters wrong in the end. Case in point: Following the overwhelming success of He’s Into Her season one, she continues to topbill the hit show’s second season alongside Donny.
