On August 24, Ogie Alcasid marked his birthday with a memorable celebration on the noontime show It’s Showtime. The singer-songwriter delivered a performance of his timeless hits “Nandito Ako,” “Kung Mawawala Ka,” and “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang.”

The performance was made even more special as his wife, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, and their son, Nate Alcasid, were spotted in the audience, joyfully singing along and clapping to the music.

As Ogie wrapped up his performance, he was joined on stage by Regine and Nate. Regine greeted Ogie with a heartfelt “Happy Birthday, honey!” and shared her appreciation for the performance.

“Ang ganda ng production number,” she said, visibly proud of her husband’s work. “Kasi ngayon, meron siyang, parang nire-reinvent niya yung mga luma niyang kanta. I think it’s the time, diba? Para maintroduce ulit yung mga songs na nag-hit na before, para maintroduce sa mga bagong generation.”

Nate, when asked to share a message for his dad, gave a simple yet touching wish: “More birthdays here, successful concerts, more songs to come.”

Regine playfully remarked on how quickly their son has grown up, saying, “Ang laki na nung anak ko ‘no. Parang nahipan lang tapos lumaki na.”

The celebration took a more intimate turn when Regine was asked about her birthday wish for Ogie. She focused on his professional endeavors, highlighting his ongoing projects and his role as a producer.

“Ako gusto ko lang na maging successful lahat, ‘yung mga ginagawa niyang projects for other people,” she began, “Ang prayers ko na hindi siya mapagod, dahil ang dami niyang ginagawa, meron siya everyday. Nagpo-produce pa siya, and he continues to write songs, he continues to reinvent his songs, he continues to reinvent himself.”

Regine didn’t hold back her admiration for her husband, recognizing how difficult it is to maintain relevance in the entertainment industry. “It’s very hard to be relevant, but I think my husband is able to do that kasi nga he’s not afraid to reinvent himself. So, honey, I’m very, very proud of you, and you know that. I’m very proud, and I’m very proud of the work you do. So, congratulations mahal, I love you very much.”

Regine also candidly addressed rumors circulating about their relationship. With a mix of humor and seriousness, she dismissed the gossip.

“By the way, gusto ko lang ‘semplakin’ yung nagsasabi na hiwalay kami, bwiset eh diba,” she said. “Marriage is already difficult the way it is, pero ‘yung may mga tao pa na, who’s trying to make it even more difficult for us, hindi po ‘yun maganda, parang ipinapanalangin niyo na magkahiwalay kami.”

“Hindi po kami maghihiwalay, ever, because we love each other,” she stressed.

Regine emphasized the strength of their marriage and their family, crediting Ogie’s faith and God-centered life as the foundation of their relationship. “Ang focus niya kay God. Marami siyang ginagawa, pero ang focus niya na kay God pa rin. Hence, ako po yung nagbe-benefit doon, kasi dahil mahal na mahal niya ang Panginoon, mabait, mabuti siyang asawa at tatay sa amin.”
