KIM CHIU – The Kapamilya actress-host has said a couple of inappropriate words in the show unintentionally, will MTRCB take action?

Noontime variety show “It’s Showtime” host Vice Ganda and Ion Perez allegedly committed an “indecent act” during one of the show’s segments last July. With this, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) summoned the producers of the show.

According to the summon from MTRCB, the said incident was when Vice and Ion ate a cake’s icing. They have these teasing looks as Vice scooped out an amount from his fingers and put it in his mouth.

“Said scene is in violation of Section 3 (c) Presidential Decree No. 1986. The hearing date is scheduled on 31 July 2023, 10:00 am at the MTRCB Office in Timog Avenue, Quezon City,” the statement said.

It created a loud buzz online as there was a conflict of interest. But the agency stands firm. According to MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto, Showtime has several violations already which is why a summon has been issued.

The conflict of interest sprouted from the fact that the MTRCB Chair is the daughter of Tito Sotto, a host of the rival show Showtime.

Lala was accused unfair in terms of her judgment. She was being called out online to summon her parents for doing something on national television but she was unfazed. She believed that there was nothing wrong with what her parents did.

And to prove that she’s not unfair, MTRCB summoned EAT after one of its hosts was heard expressing the “PI” bad word while on live.

Now, in some of the episodes of Showtime, host Kim Chiu created a loud buzz after she made a mistake. In one of the segments, she said “vibrator” instead of vibrato. This was the time when she supposedly commended a performance but said the wrong word.

It was clearly unintentional. And the other incident was when she expressed “p*kp*k short” but the other host immediately caught up to it and expressed that must be referring to “kwek kwek short”.

Will MTRCB take an action?

Meanwhile, the agency is still under deliberation of the said two cases. It has been reported that they might release their decisions next week.
