It’s Showtime Suspension – Former Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chair Atty. Eugenio “Toto” Villareal reacted to the 12-day suspension that the Kapamilya noontime show had to go through.

MTRCB released the decision to suspend the Kapamilya noontime show following the icing incident that involved celebrity couple Vice Ganda and Ion Perez.

Because of this incident, Ion had anxiety and reportedly that was the reason he and Vice took a quick vacation amid the issue. This was speculated by some netizens as a suspension of the couple but it was not the case.

The suspension garnered negative reactions from the online community, especially from the fans of the Kapamilya noontime show. However, the current MTRCB chair Lala Sotto defended the board’s decision.

There were even those who called out MTRCB and expressed that they wanted Chair Sotto to resign. Previously, she said that regarding the suspension issue, she was “inhibited from voting.”

Based on the article in PUSH, this issue received a comment from former MTRCB chair Villareal. He said that this decision by the board saddened him.

“Well, ang una kong reaksyon of course is nakakalungkot. Even sa nagdedesisyon…” he said, adding that this is supposed to be the feeling also that people from the MTRCB should feel.

“Dahil yung law na nag-create ng MTRCB, isa sa whereas clauses niyan ay ang pagtaguyod ng movie and television industry and therefore, part ng industry ay ang ordinaryo nating crew, aside sa mga artista,” Villareal stressed.

He also said that this would surely have a massive bad impact on the show to have a 12-day suspension.

Although the 12-day suspension was already released, the Kapamilya noontime show continues to air.
