“There should be no place for harassment.”

This was Alfred Vegas’s firm statement on a sensitive issue currently making waves not only in Philippine showbiz but also in Hollywood.

He continued, “Any kind of harassment. Not only in our industry, but in the whole society. Not only against women, but in the whole of our society.”

When entertainment reporter Allan Sancon asked if he had encountered harassment himself, particularly since he had done sexy movies in the past, Alfred responded quickly, “Ang dami kong nakuhang ano, indecent proposal, grabe.

“Pero ako, suwerte ako kasi yung parents ko guided me, talagang I stayed away,” he said.

“So natutunan ko kung paano tumayo sa mga ganoong klase na mga bagay, so thank God, with the help of my manager Lolit Solis, medyo okay naman ako.”

Alfred’s manager, Lolit Solis, also manages Senator Bong Revilla, Congresswoman Lani Revilla, Pauleen Luna-Sotto, and Paolo Contis, to name a few.

This interview took place just days before Alfred filed his candidacy in Quezon City. It was held during the opening of Fantasy World at SM Fairview, Quezon City, where Alfred participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

He mentioned to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and Allan Sancon that he was attending as a dad “excited” for his children—Alexandra Milan, Aryana Cassandra, Alfredo Cristiano, and Aurora Sofia.

He beamed, “I have 13 years old, 12 years old, five years old, at nine months old. Matutuwa yung mga anak ko ngayon dito. I just live five minutes away from here.”

He added that he’s likely to bring his kids to the newly-opened indoor park, “Dinadala ko sila sa mga bago. Mga attractions.”

For Alfred, keeping his kids engaged in real-world activities is a priority. “This is one way of keeping them away from gadgets and exposing them to ‘live plays, live human interactions.’”

He emphasized, “Ano kami, talagang we make sure na controlled yung gadgets, yung access nila to gadgets. I would rather na yung mga anak ko, andito kesa nakababad sa iPad.”

Despite his busy schedule, Alfred ensures he spends quality time with his wife, Yasmine.

“Naka-schedule iyan… dini-date ko sila isa-isa. Pati misis ko, dini-date ko pa rin.” He added that this family bonding happens weekly.

As for showbiz projects, Alfred mentioned that he will return to film next year. “Pahinga muna ngayon. Focus muna sa trabaho.”

Regarding TV, he shared, “I have an upcoming teleserye, Forever Young, so it’s showing this November.”

Forever Young is a GMA-7 series that premiered on October 21, starring award-winning child actor Euwenn Mikael, Nadine Samonte, Michael de Mesa, Eula Valdes, Rafael Rosell, and Alfred.
