The wait is over! Here comes the first poster and official teaser of Vice Ganda’s highly anticipated film, “And The Breadwinner Is…”, an official entry to the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF)!
Helmed by acclaimed director Jun Robles Lana and co-produced by Star Cinema and The IdeaFirst Company, the film marks Vice’s MMFF comeback. Now, fans finally get a sneak peek into the life of Bambi Salvador, Vice’s character who brings on equal parts laughter and tears.
Released on October 22, the movie’s first poster shows Vice as Bambi dressed in a pink and professional-looking ensemble. Set within a gold frame, Bambi holds a basket generously laden with star-shaped bread, while surrounded by whimsical butterflies.
As a playful nod to her role as a breadwinner of the family, could the bread in the poster refer to something else?
From the official teaser, meanwhile, we learn that Bambi sends her earnings as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) to support her family back home. Her main dream is to renovate their home with her hard-earned money.
But when Bambi finally returns home, she’s in for a shock. Instead of a renovated house, “five floors” as promised to her, she finds an old, run-down “Papsy’s Panaderyuh” where her dream home should be.
We see a bewildered Bambi standing before her family members, played by an all-star cast that includes Eugene Domingo, Jhong Hilario, Gladys Reyes, Kokoy de Santos, and Maris Racal. She painfully asks them, “Ano nang nangyari dun sa bahay na pinapagawa ko?”
All in all, we see moments of Bambi hard at work, their family during a happy time, and their family during a chaotic fight.
The emotional rollercoaster is real, and we see Bambi hit a low point in the teaser, breaking down with a heart-wrenching line: “Sabi nila breadwinner ako, pero bakit talunan ako ngayon?”
