The San Miguel Beermen management is awaiting specialists’ official prognosis on June Mar Fajardo’s hand injury, sustained in their last game against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Wednesday.
Fajardo injured his hand in the third quarter of the San Miguel-Rain or Shine match while contesting the layup of opposing guard Adrian Nocum.
Team physicians taped Fajardo’s left hand, and he returned to the game, contributing 16 points and seven boards to help the Beermen secure a 115-110 win.
Post-game, the 6’10 behemoth expressed optimism, believing he did not sustain a major injury.
“Hindi naman siguro major,” the seven-time MVP told reporters. “Aksidente lang.”
However, in a Spin.ph report on Thursday, team manager Gee Abanilla said that they have to wait on the diagnosis of hand specialists to determine Fajardo’s injury.
“Suspected fracture,” the team official said. “Just waiting for the official prognosis.”
The Beermen are off to a 3-1 start in the Commissioner’s Cup despite missing the services of injured players Terrence Romeo, Jeron Teng, Vic Manuel, and Kyt Jimenez. (MJD)
