The Wrexham player has finally responded to his absence.

A top Wrexham player has finally broken his silence after he has surprisingly been absent from the start of the season.

After securing back-to-back promotions under owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham are competing in League One this season.

Following the promotion to the English third division, several players were rewarded with new contracts, while the club also took to the transfer market to strengthen the squad.

However, one player who was handed a new contract has been noticeably absent from the start of the 2024.25 season, and now he has finally broken his silence.

Anthony Forde, 30, was handed an extension to his Wrexham contract in May, keeping him at the club until the end of the current season.

Despite this the Irishman was not included in the squad for last week’s 3-0 win over Shrewsbury Town at the Racecourse Ground and did not feature in any games earlier in the season.

However, after making his first appearance of the season in Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over Salford City in the Football League Trophy, the midfielder finally broke his silence by posting on Instagram for the first time since July.

The post, simply captioned with a football emoji, shows a series of images of Forde and his teammates during the cup match.

Forde has made 55 appearances for Wrexham since joining in July 2022 from Oxford United, scoring four goals and assisting one.

He will no doubt now hope that he can play a more regular role in Wrexham’s impressive start to the season, which currently sees them sitting on top of League One with four wins and one loss.

Wrexham’s performances this season have surprised many naysayers who expected that they would have no chance of securing their third successive promotion this season.

But, according to owner McElhenney, doubts over their ability have not impacted the Wrexham squad.

Speaking to Men in Blazers, he said: “Fortunately enough that the players do not listen to any of the prognosticators or the supporters or their family members they go out and win and they believe that they can win they believe they can win the league.

“It’s really funny to to listen to all the prognosticators and Vegas all the oddsmakers and all the sports talk people who really had us about mid-table.”
