Cesc Fabregas believes only two of his teammates during his illustrious career had an ‘unbeatable’ aura about them.

Cesc Fabregas has revealed the two teammates he felt ‘unbeatable’ with when stepping out onto the pitch during his career.

Fabregas, 37, is currently in charge of Serie A outfit Como having recently ended his career as a player in 2023.

Enjoying a decorated career at the very top of the professional game, the former Spain international played for clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona.

Handed the chance recently to reflect on his past achievements, Fabregas told of the duo he felt the most comfortable with during his playing days.

“Thierry [Henry] I think together with Lionel Messi are the two players who I felt much stronger when I was on a football pitch,” the former Blues midfielder told The Rest Is Football Podcast.

“It is like saying ‘Okay, this could not be my day, the team could not play well’ but you know you will always have Thierry Henry there to save the day.

“There were games in the later part of my career, let’s say the last 8-10 years, I didn’t feel that any game was easy.

“Maybe when you are playing with [Leo] Messi you can feel the confidence that he will make something special but always with Thierry.

“We were playing Everton at home and we were in the tunnel at Highbury before stepping onto the pitch and it is difficult to explain because I don’t want it to sound weird or arrogant, but I just knew we were going to win.

“That was the power of having Thierry there. I only ever felt this with him and Leo.”

Messi and Fabregas could have played together at Arsenal.

Having won countless honours at both club and international level, Fabregas’ skillset is often lauded by ex-players and pundits alike.

Repeatedly demonstrating his keen eye for a pass, the former Barcelona man began his professional career with Arsenal back in 2003.

Despite claiming just the FA Cup during his time with the Gunners, controversy surrounded the Spaniard as he joined bitter rivals Chelsea back in 2014.

It was with the Blues that the now 37-year-old won the Premier League for the very first time in his career, doing so on two occasions in both 2014/15 and 2016/17.
