PBA superstar June Mar Fajardo said his former teammate Arwind Santos has played a huge role in San Miguel Beer’s glory years, wherein they won nine titles.
Hence, the “Kraken” said that having to retire jersey No. 29 is something that Santos so richly deserved.
“Masaya kami para kay Arwind na nasa San Miguel i-retire ang jersey niya,” said Fajardo in Spin.ph. “Malaki rin naman talaga ang contribution (niya) sa San Miguel. Hindi naman talaga natin made-deny ‘yun.
Santos’ jersey was retired Wednesday night at halftime of the San Miguel versus Blackwater game at the Philsports Arena. He last played in the PBA as part of the NorthPort squad before moving to the Pampanga Giant Lanterns in the MPBL in 2023.
Fajardo said Santos meshed well with his teammates, which led to their successful title run.
“Masaya ang samahan namin nila Arwind. ‘Yung group namin before, nandoon na si Arwind, maganda ‘yung samahan namin kaya nananalo kami ng championships,” he said.
