Controversial PBA player John Amores tested negative for gunpowder residue, police confirmed.
The NorthPort Batang Pier guard is under investigation for his involvement in a shooting incident in Lumban, Laguna, on Wednesday.
However, Lumban police clarified that the negative test does not definitively prove he did not fire the weapon.
“Hindi naman po ito nagpapatunay na hindi siya nagpaputok ng baril dahil may iba-ibang factors kung bakit walang presence ng gun nitrate ang kamay,” said Police Major
Bob Louis Ordiz of the Lumban Police in GMA’s 24 Oras.
Amores, along with his brother, surrendered to authorities early Thursday after being accused of firing a gun at another man following a basketball game in Lumban.
The two are facing attempted homicide charges before the Municipal Circuit Trial Court in Lumban.
CCTV footage showed Amores dismounting from a motorcycle, driven by his brother, in Barangay Maytalang Uno on Wednesday before firing his weapon at the man.
Fortunately, the victim was unharmed.
Ordiz stated that Amores and the victim had a heated argument over a disputed call during a basketball game, which had a P4,000 bet on the line for the winning team.
Amores and his brother were released on bail on Friday.
