NorthPort Batang Pier guard John Amores is once again at the center of controversy, reportedly involved in a shooting incident after a basketball game in Lumban, Laguna, on Wednesday.

According to a report from DWAR Abante Radyo’s SPORTSNOW program, Amores is now the target of a dragnet operation after allegedly shooting an individual after the game.

As per the police, Amores and a certain Lee Cacalda became involved in a heated altercation following a basketball game in Barangay Salac, Lumban.

“Both of them got into a heated altercation when the suspect told him, ‘Dun tayo mag suntukan.’ The victim then followed him to Brgy. Maytalang Uno,” the police report stated.

“When both of them went off their motorcycles, suspect then shot the victim using an unknown type of firearm.

Immediately after the incident, suspect escaped towards Pagsanjan direction while the victim incurred no injuries,” it added.

The shooting incident, according to the police, reportedly took place around 6:10 p.m.

The Batang Pier and the PBA have yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.

This isn’t the first time Amores, who currently resides in Pagsanjan, Laguna, has been involved in a “basketbrawl.”

In July 2022, while still with the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers, he punched Mark Belmonte of the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons during a pre-season game.

Later that year, during the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, Amores was involved in another melee when he charged toward the College of St. Benilde Blazers’ bench and punched several players.
