On its social media pages, FIBA recently released its ranking of the top five Philippine men’s national basketball teams of all time, honoring squads that have showcased skill, heart, and determination throughout the decade.

From dominating Asia to making their mark on the world stage, these teams have not only represented the country but also inspired countless Filipinos to dream big on the court.

5. 2023 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) 

The 2023 FIBA OQT team displayed resilience and pride on the international stage, representing the Philippines in the final round of qualifiers for the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Though they faced stiff competition in Riga, Gilas shocked the world by defeating then-world no. 6 Latvia, with standout performances from naturalized player Justin Brownlee.

Gilas would go on to make the semifinals where they would ultimately bow to Brazil. While they didn’t secure a spot in Paris 2024, their grit left a lasting impact on Filipino fans.

4. 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers
