On the sidelines of the awards ceremony at the Short Film Festival, artist Ilham Shaheen revealed that she has taken a new and bold decision, after criticism for proposing a two-state solution: Palestine and Israel.

Elham said: “The criticism in that you criticize me is true and I have enmities and know the reasons and my boldness can create Lea deh, and I will not speak in politics again nor religion nor my family, and no one asks me is on the occasion only.”

As for what cinema lacks today, she said: “We miss good writing, and I need more to write and read a lot of paper.”

Regarding the request of some to honor artists Adel Imam and Mohamed Sobhi, Elham Shaheen said: “Adel Imam and Mohamed Sobhi deserve the best honors from the state and everywhere.”

As for the character she wishes to present, Ilham Shaheen said: “Once upon a time, I used to present all the characters of the ancient queens of Egypt, such as Queen Hatshepsut, and highlighted the role of strong women, and I presented the idea to Youssef Chahine, but unfortunately he died after that, and the project stopped, and we have historical works.”

Ilham Shaheen had stirred controversy with her remarks at the Cairo International Monodrama Festival, where she said: “The Arab peoples call for peace, and the solution from my point of view is the two-state solution, in which the State of Palestine and Israel remain, I wish the whole world was pressuring Netanyahu, especially since he is exalted with his weapons, no matter how much time passes, he and Meen must understand that the Arab world will not calm down until the establishment of the Palestinian state.”
