‘It’s Showtime’ host Karylle shuts down pregnancy rumors

It’s Showtime host Karylle just put an end to the pregnancy buzz!

In a special episode of Karylle’s podcast, K’s Drama, she appeared with lawyer and former BIR commissioner Kim Henares to address pregnancy rumors and the legalities surrounding fake news.

“So, I have been stopped on the street and congratulated for being pregnant, and I have to explain, of course, that I am not pregnant,” Karylle said.

She revealed this is the third time the pregnancy news has circulated online, and she knew at some point that it would be useless because people will believe what they want to believe.

“I think it’s not about education level. A lot of people have been fooled by this news, so I’m here to tell you once again that the news is fake,” she added.

Karylle shared that she asked Kim to “guide me through this very strange place this 2025.”

Lawyer Kim explained, “Actually, if you look at our law, you have to prove damages to yourself, but if you say it’s not damaging naman, that’s a problem. There is fake news that doesn’t really damage anyone, but it is just not factual.”

Karylle said that the damage would be to her mental health, having to explain to everyone, and nobody believed her.

The lawyer advised that the only thing she can do now is to refute all the fake news and reveal the truth in the same format as how it circulated online.

The It’s Showtime host revealed that a news segment came up to her to deny her pregnancy.

She responded, “But I don’t want to normalize people asking women if they are, in fact, pregnant because that is your own news to break.”

Kim agreed and said that it is exactly like asking about their political belief, religious belief or sexual orientation.

Furthermore, she explained that people can file a lawsuit against somebody if the news is false because “saying the truth is a defense of the other party.”

“It’s not the creator of the fake news alone that is criminally liable; the sharers are also criminally liable,” she added.

Karylle married Spongecola frontman Yael Yuzon in 2014. The couple shared that they are ready to be parents one year into marriage.
