MANILA β€” The whole team behind the movie ‘Unhappy for You’ has nothing but gratitude for the massive success of the reunion film of Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto.

JoshLia was joined by the whole production crew during the thanksgiving dinner, Friday night, together with ABS-CBN executives led by CEO and President Carlo Katigbak, COO Cory Vidanes, Head of Digital Jamie Lopez, Head of ABS-CBN Films Kriz Gazmen, Head of Star Music Roxy Liquigan, former ABS-CBN Films head Olivia Lamasan, among others.

Also present during the thanksgiving dinner were Joshua and Julia’s co-stars John Lapus, Victor Silayan, Aljon Mendoza, Bianca de Vera and Bong Gonzales. Creative producer Kookai Labayen and the director of the movie Petersen Vargas acknowledged each every team that collaborated to make this movie a big success.

Labayen also described the movie as a “labor of love” from everybody.

During their thank you speeches, Joshua candidly told Julia, “Sana hindi ito ang huli na pelikula. Gusto mo pa ba?”

Julia responded with a big smile, “Oo naman.”

They went on and thanked their writers and producers, and Joshua turned to Julia anew and said, “Gusto kong magpasalamat sa ‘yo, thank you for doing this whole journey with me. Hindi mo ako iniwan, magkasama tayo sa laban na ito. Maraming salamat and hopefully this is not our last.”

Julia also thanked Joshua, “Thank you Josh for this super crazy experience. But I feel like hindi natin malalampasan yun kung hindi tayo nagtulungan. Thank you also for being open. Thank you for being present and patient.”

As for their director, JoshLia thanked Vargas for guiding both of them through the most difficult moments of making the film.

“Thank you so much Direk P because you created a safe space for Joshua and I, siyempre hindi exact naging madali ito para sa aming dalawa but you made a safe space and you made it like we can trust you, we can be honest with you, and you never judged us.” says Julia.

She added, “Pag-nahihirapan kami, hinahawakan mo yung kamay namin para lang magawa namin yung eksena. So, thank you. Thank you for not giving up on us.”

Joshua said, “Salamat sa pagiging kaibigan namin. Salamat sa pagiging open mo sa amin. Sa tiwala at sa paggabay.”

On its 6th week, “Unhappy for you” has earned 450M box office gross worldwide and its theatrical run continues here in the Philippines.

On its 5th week in the United States, Canada, Guam, Australia, UAE and Qatar. The movie is also showing in Singapore on its second week, and will be premiering in Malaysia on September 29.

Special screenings have been scheduled in Hong Kong on September 22 and on September 27 in Cambodia.
