Sylvia Sanchez revealed something about Maine Mendoza

Seasoned actress Sylvia Sanchez reacted to the rumor that her daughter-in-law Phenomenal Star Maine Mendoza is “suplada” or “snobby.”

Maine is the wife of actor-politician Arjo Atayde, Sylvia’s eldest child. Before Maine and Arjo tied the knot in July 2023, Sylvia organized a bridal shower for the Eat Bulaga host. It has been evident online that Arjo’s family was very welcoming to Maine.

The couple has been generous enough to share glimpses of their married life on their social media pages. However, last July, rumors circulated that Maine and Arjo broke up and this received a reaction from Sylvia. The seasoned actress categorically denied the breakup rumors.

Another rumor involving Maine Mendoza surfaced last March. It was because she reacted to a blind item about a host who is “apaka taray” and netizens mentioned her in the comment section. She jokingly reacted that people would easily point at her.

The Phenomenal Star was defended by her mother-in-law when it came to this accusation. In a recent interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Sylvia Sanchez addressed the rumor that her daughter-in-law is “suplada.”

The seasoned actress said that she first proved that the “suplada” accusation against Maine was not true at all when the latter first visited their home. “Du’n ko nakita, kasi sinasabi nila suplada, Kuya Boy, nami-misinterpret si Maine,” Sylvia shared to King of Talk Boy Abunda.

The seasoned actress stressed that her daughter-in-law is a shy person. “Kung alam lang nila. May mga nagsasabi sa ‘kin, suplada, hindi. ‘Wag n’yo i-judge ‘yung tao kasi nakita ko siya e, nag-usap kami,” she added.

Sylvia said that when Maine visited their home for the first time, the latter spent about 15 minutes outside their house because she was too shy. With this, Sylvia said that this was when she realized that Maine is introverted and her personality onscreen is different from what she is in real life.

“Ako mismo, na-experience ko. Sabi, ‘Mommy, nahihiya pa, sandali lang.’ ‘Halika na, sige.’ Lumabas si Arjo, pagbalik niya, ako na sumalubong. ‘Hi, Maine!’ Niyakap ko na, sobrang lamig,” Sylvia Sanchez shared.

Meanwhile, the seasoned actress also talked about her son-in-law actor Zanjoe Marudo, the husband of her daughter Ria Atayde. Sylvia Sanchez that the actor is really “mabait.” They had the chance to work with each other in the past and she saw the actor’s good character. She added that she is lucky to have in-laws like Maine and Zanjoe.
