MANILA — Actress Angel Locsin on Wednesday dismissed body shaming comments she received, emphasizing that there is nothing wrong with her figure.
“Yes, I’m big. So what? Is there a problem with that? Sometimes when others criticize, I look at their profile picture and think, excuse me,” Locsin joked in an interview with Ogie Diaz.
“You wouldn’t want to insult someone, right? Sometimes it makes me smile, like, ouch, I got stung, but when I look at their profile pic, it’s all good,” she added.
Locsin stated that her body shape does not define her, noting that her husband, Neil Arce, accepts her no matter what.
“I’m trying, but I’m not trying my best. I don’t really care. I’m Angel Locsin; I’ve developed myself into who I am today, and I really don’t care.
“What I mean is I don’t care what other people think. I’m okay with myself. I’m beautiful in my husband’s eyes,” she added.
Locsin mentioned that one’s body should not define them as an artist.
“We’ll get there; if you lose weight, you lose weight. But it’s not an issue. My being Angel Locsin is not measured by how much I weigh,” she said.
“I know I’ve proven a lot to myself and to others, and I’m okay with that. You can say whatever you want. It’s fine; I don’t care.”
