Ruben Amorim has already identified his first Man Utd signing in problem position that desperately needs fixing

Ruben Amorim is replacing Erik ten Hag at Manchester United and has his sights on a first signing at Old Trafford.

Manchester United’s next manager Ruben Amorim has already identified his first signing for the club after an agreement was reached for him to replace Erik ten Hag.

United immediately entered talks with the Sporting CP boss after dismissing Erik ten Hag after a dismal start to the season left them in 14th place and have been able to strike an agreement.

On Thursday it was widely reported that a full agreement had been reached for Amorim, who will remain in charge of Sporting for three more games before taking the United job in the November international break.

It means his first game at the helm is likely to be an away game against Ipswich Town on 24 November, with Ruud van Nistelrooy taking charge on an interim basis until then.

But it seems as though Amorim is not wasting any time and has his sights on a first addition. The 39-year-old typically plays with a back three and wing backs and GiveMeSport say Amorim is keen on signing Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri, who also has strong interest from Liverpool.

The Algeria international, who plays on the left side of Wolves’ backline, is out of contract at the end of the 2025/26 season and and interest in him is expected to intensity.

He currently earns £33,000-a-week and Ait-Nouri is said to be keen on proving himself at a higher level after impressing at Wolves ever since he joined from Angers in 2020.

Liverpool and United are both in need of a left-back and would bring that step up the 23-year-old longs for. United in particularly have been plagued by injuries on the left side of defence, with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia seemingly never fit.

Ait-Nouri, who has made 126 appearances for the club, is seen as a real threat going forward and could fit well into Amorim’s preferred system. Wolves are believed to value him at £60 million.
