A Manchester City player was reportedly arrested last month by Spanish police for an incident in a nightclub.

Man City resumed their Champions League campaign last night as they easily beat Slovan Bratislava 4-0.

Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring as Phil Foden doubled his side’s lead.

In the second-half, Erling Haaland and James McAtee added a third and fourth to secure their first victory of this season’s Champions League campaign.

Pep Guardiola rang the changes for the European tie in Slovakia as he drafted in the likes of Stefan Ortega and Savio.

Not to mention Matheus Nunes, who started in midfield alongside Gundogan.

And his start comes after he was arrested by the National Police in the La Riviera nightclub in Madrid for allegedly stealing a mobile phone, according to El Mundo.

A person, 58, had supposedly taken a photo of the Man City star without permission in a bathroom, prompting him to snatch the device.

Local officers took Nunes to the Arganzuela police station, where he was questioned for an alleged theft, as confirmed by the Madrid Police Headquarters.

Hours later the Brazilian-born Portuguese was released on bail pending trial.

The incident occurred at 5.30am as the report claims he is said to have stolen the phone in a ‘very angry’ manner and refused to give it back after the alleged victim tried to take a photo of him.

Nunes ended up in the cells of the Arganzuela police station. He notified his lawyer who began the process to speed up his release.

On the same day, he left the police station without being brought before a court as it was a crime of theft, per the report.

The 26-year-old was in Madrid for a short break, having not been selected by Portugal for their Nations League fixtures.

Nunes has played six games for Man City this season, including a substitute appearance against Brentford on September 14, shortly after his arrest.
