England were beaten by Greece at Wembley on Thursday night.
England fans have criticised two players after the Three Lions’ defeat against Greece.
On Thursday night, England and Greece faced off in a UEFA Nations League clash at Wembley.
Prior to the match, the headlines were dominated by the tragic death of former Premier League defender George Baldock, who passed away at the age of 31 on Wednesday night.
Baldock played 12 times for Greece and left Sheffield United for Panathinaikos in the summer.
In the first half at Wembley, Greece had a number of chances to take the lead but England held firm.
Eventually, the Three Lions were stunned by Vangelis Pavlidis’ goal in the 49th minute.
Pavlidis and his teammates paid tribute to Baldock by pointing to the black armband and also holding up a ‘Baldock 2’ shirt into the air after the goal went in.
England pushed for an equaliser and were rewarded in the closing stages thanks to Jude Bellingham’s fine finish in the 88th minute.
However, Greece landed a crushing blow in stoppage time as Pavlidis scored again after England failed to clear the ball. The visitors held on for a famous 2-1 victory.
Reacting on social media, England fans were far from happy with Phil Foden and Anthony Gordon.
One fan said: “Why does Foden keep getting chances to start for England? He’s never had a good performance yet gets rewarded with a free role. Shouldn’t even be in the squad.”
Another tweeted: “Foden shouldn’t start for England again until he’s actually deserved it.”
A third fan added: “Gordon shouldn’t start as part of our best 11 I’m sorry.”

A fifth commented: “A false 9 set up clearly isnt ideal tactically for England. Watkins should have played over Foden or Gordon.”
Another fan said: “Can’t remember the last good game Foden had for England.”
Gordon was taken off on the hour mark as Lee Carsley replaced the Newcastle United winger with Ollie Watkins.
With 72 minutes on the clock, Foden was substituted and replaced by Dominic Solanke.
