One Chelsea star has been criticised for how he played during their 4-2 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

After conceding an early goal to Brighton’s Georgino Rutter, Chelsea came back to win the Premier League clash 4-2.

Cole Palmer was the standout performer during the match after scoring all four of Chelsea’s goals all within the first 41 minutes of the match.

But, despite a strong team performance, one Chelsea player has been criticised for his mistakes during Saturday’s match.

While speaking with Jamie O’Hara on talkSPORT, former Chelsea player Jason Cundy singled out goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for his performance.

He said: “Do you know what? Again, goalkeepers being asked to play the ball at the back. He makes two ricks, two goals. That’s what happens when goalkeepers give the ball away.

“He gives them the first one. He’s come out looking like Superman. A challenge he can’t win. The second one, giving the ball away into the box.

“We were cruising at stage 3-1. Brings it back to 3-2. Obviously, it’s like, where’s Cole Palmer?

“We need another goal. Give us another goal, Cole. And he does. Yeah, Sanchez… the selection of pass, choice of pass, make the right decision.”

After being greeted by the boos of fans of his former club, Sanchez failed to impress against Brighton.

The Spanish keeper made an early mistake to allow the Seagulls to take the lead after he came too far out of his box and allowed Rutter to head the ball into the back of the net from 12 yards out.

Just over 25 minutes later, he was again responsible for Chelsea conceding a goal and allowing the visitors back into the game after Palmer had established a 3-1 lead.

As mentioned by Cundy, an attempted pass out from the back by Sanchez was intercepted by Carlos Baleba who took the score to 3-2.

Thankfully for the goalkeeper, just seven minutes later superstar Palmer restored his side’s two goal lead after a through ball from new signing Jadon Sancho allowed him to score his fourth goal of the match.
