JERRY OLEA:

Nora Aunor was a little scared when Director Gina Alajar shouted at her during the taping of the Kapuso drama series  Onanay .

It wasn’t the National Artist that Direk Gina was targeting, but rather the young star she was working with.

“What I remember is, when  our Onanay  was, of course, we were going to take it,” the Superstar said during the storycon of the movie  Pieta  on February 4, Saturday at Victorino’s Restaurant on Sct. Rallos St., Quezon City.

“Well, one of our fellow actors didn’t get the acting that the director asked him to do.”

“Then, he really screamed! I was scared! He said, ‘You’re already late, you haven’t even got the scenes you’re going to do yet! What are you going to act like!’

“I was really scared,” admitted Nora, known in showbiz as Ate Guy.

Nora, on the other hand, stressed that it is the artist’s responsibility to be prepared on set.

“But what he said was true. That’s why I didn’t do anything then, Director,” Nora said to Director Gina who was with her at the Pieta press conference.

Nora continued, “That was just in my head. But that’s really him.

“Is that when you arrive on set, you should already know what you’re going to do. It’s not when you arrive on set, you just act, you don’t study the scenes, the dialogue and everything.”

“Well, of course, if you take it and you don’t get it, your director will be mad at you. So I said, ‘Okay, okay.’”

Director Gina explained her version of the incident where she stepped on a young star.

Director Gina’s argument to Ate Guy, “That’s not true either. Because you’re the one in the scene with him. You’re the one in the scene with him.”

“You know, if they were just the same young people, maybe I wouldn’t mind.

“But because you’re his scene partner, I was expecting that… he also has a system where he memorizes his lines. He knows what he’s going to do, and whatever instructions he gets, he follows them immediately.”

““That’s why I was angry. Because first of all, I was ashamed of you. Because you did your part. You did your part and I know you tried to help these actors…

“But if they’re not serious about what they’re doing, right? So, first of all, I’m ashamed. I’m ashamed of you, that’s why.”

Director Gina didn’t want to say who the young star with the attitude or disobedience was, so she was reprimanded.

Should we discuss the annoying new artist?

Director Gina responded, “As much as possible, I wouldn’t. Because, I also don’t want tension to arise on the set, you know.

“Because of course, if I lose my cool, everyone is affected. From the executive producer, those kinds of people. Of course, that’s also reported to management, right?”

“That’s why, because someone like that gets scolded. And I don’t like that. That’s why, there are certain times, certain points that sometimes I get upset, like that.

“So you know, you have to teach them a lesson. That’s it.”

As much as possible, Director Gina really doesn’t want to get to the point where she has to talk to someone on set.

“It’s also wrong to have to discuss it, because when you say it needs to be discussed, it’s in front of everyone. And the person is also embarrassed, isn’t it?”

“So that’s not a good attitude either. Because he also has pride, right? It’s embarrassing.”

“So that’s it, I hope it doesn’t happen again. You know I’m trying to learn. I’m trying to control myself, hopefully, nothing like that. No more outbursts like that. Because it’s not healthy either,” Gina said bluntly.

As a director, there are others who have been told off by Director Gina.

But as an actor, he didn’t have a co-star.

Director Gina’s reasoning is, “I don’t do that to artists because you know I don’t have any pressure, that’s it.”

“It’s only when the director, you know, doesn’t want to follow you or something, like that, or they don’t have their lines memorized.”

NOEL FERRER:

So it’s not the case that the young actress was overwhelmed and stuttered because she was in a scene with Nora Aunor.

Because, I know many actors who are like that when Ate Guy is in the scene, it seems like there’s some kind of sparkle or light in your eyes.

And this stubborn actress is still late. And she hasn’t prepared yet. Oh, it’s really not surprising that her director, who is also a very good actress, Gina Alajar, would tell her off.

I remembered  Andrea, How to Be a Mother  (1990) by Director Gina and Ate Guy.

Hopefully,   the film that brought together the two award-winning actresses will have as much impact as this Pieta ! All the best!

GORGY RULA:

Has Director Gina ever worked with  Alex Gonzaga ?

“Alex Gonzaga, I haven’t worked with her yet but I remember, I worked with her for about three days when Channel 5 was just starting and she was being launched for  Babaeng Hampaslupa ,” said Director Gina.

Alex has no attitude in the acting workshop?

“As far as I can remember, there is none,” replied Direk Gina.

What was his impression of Alex? Did he like it?

“At that time, she was very raw. So… You know, it’s been a while, how many years has it been?

“More than 12 years ago, Channel 5 was just starting out, so I don’t remember,” said Director Gina.

Director Gina clarified that she had no negative  experience with Alex .

Her experience when she did this workshop was positive. The teleserye  Babaeng Hampaslupa aired  from February to July 2011 on TV5.

“But I think he did the right thing when he did  Babaeng Hampaslupa . If he did that right, maybe what I taught him was right.”

“She learned something from me. She was able to learn something from me. So it’s OK.”

Alex is supported by Susan Roces, Alice Dixson, Eddie Garcia, Jay Manalo, Freddie Webb and Bing Loyzaga.

The teleserye  PS I Love You— where Alex co-starred with  Dina Bonnevie , Gabby Concepcion and  Nadine Lustre —aired on TV5 from November 2011 to February 2012.
