Christopher De Leon refuses to meddle in Nora-Matet ‘gourmet tuyo’ drama

Veteran actor Christopher De Leon revealed that he doesn’t like meddling with other people’s affairs. 

His former wife Nora Aunor and adopted daughter Matet De Leon recently engaged in a ‘gourmet tuyo’ controversy but De Leond decided to keep quiet on the issue. 

“There was a lot behind what people were talking about. I knew of the tension already … but I didn’t talk about it, because I’m not interested in dramas like that. Like I said before, I try to stay away from these kinds of things,” De Leon said in a press conference for an upcoming concert.. 

Last December, Matet accused Nora of directly competing with her business and vowed that she will no longer speak with the superstar again. 

They were just emotional about it … there was tension,” De Leon said. 

“It’s usually friends who tell me about what’s going on. I never liked talking about other people… I’m older now. For me, stuff like this can hinder your enjoyment of life,” he added. 

De Leon said he is lucky because his generation doesn’t have to deal with what’s happening on social media. 

“It’s a lot different now. We have the internet, YouTube … all that stuff. Before, we could go out on dates discreetly or get drunk at a club—and people wouldn’t know. Now, there’s a lot more chismis than real stuff out there, so you have to be more careful. Konting kibot lang … stars these days are like under the microscope,” he added. 

Early this month, in a livestream video, Matet said that she only said that out of anger and she acknowledges the fact that it was not her best decision.

“Kami ni mommy ko ay nagkaayos na. Nakita na nila, nag-upload na ng video si kuya John,” Matet said.

“I think I spoke too soon when I said I didn’t want to talk to her anymore… See what anger can do?,” she added.

Matet also addresses claims that their rift was just a ‘gimmick’. Matet said their close friends and family members know that she is not capable of doing such things. 

“Nagchat sa akin si mommy na sana maging maayos na, maging OK na kami, na sana kasi bagong taon kalimutan na natin ‘yung mga nangyari nitong nakaraan. Who am I not to say yes to that and not to agree with her,” Matet said..

Matet said that all the bashing she received affected her mental health.

“Bago mag-Christmas, I wanted to send mommy a message na maayos na pero nauna si mommy na magchat sa akin. I think that’s God’s way para maging maayos ang lahat,” she added.
