After 3 years of love, in August 2012, Dingdong Dantes prepared an elaborate proposal for Marian Rivera during a trip to Macau. That day, under a giant dome, surrounded by hundreds of colorful butterfly wings, Dingdong proposed a hundred-year marriage to the woman he loved:
“I’m 32 years old this year, I want to be with you forever. want to be the father of my children. I want to marry you.” Overwhelmed by the magnificent proposal scene, surrounded by butterflies – animals she has always been fascinated with since she was a little girl, Marian choked for a moment before saying: “I agree.”
Two years later, near the time of the engagement announcement, Dingdong believed that Marian deserved to receive more than the proposal in Macau that year – a proposal that was already as beautiful as a dream. So he planned to surprise his fiancee with a second proposal, right on stage at her dance show.
On August 9, 2014, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera’s live marriage proposal on television caused a stir across social networks and the media. In front of his family, friends and all his fans, Dingdong once again gently confessed his love: “I want to declare to the whole world how much I love you.” Marian had tears in her eyes.
On December 30, 2014, Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes officially became husband and wife in a splendid wedding ceremony at the church in Quezon City, also the parish where the groom was born and raised. The wedding ceremony was broadcast live with the participation of many famous names in the Philippine entertainment industry. In particular, even the current President of the Philippines – Mr. Benigno
Aquino III – was also present. The Marian – Dingdong wedding was praised by domestic and international press as the “Royal Wedding” and “Wedding of the Year” – a perfect anniversary milestone of a fairy tale love story
