MANILA, Philippines — The rivalry between top Kapuso actresses Marian Rivera and Heart Evangelista is said to date back in 2011, at the set of their movie “Temptation Island.”

When Heart reportedly expressed excitement for the possibility of having a project with Marian’s then boyfriend (now husband) Dingdong Dantes, Marian allegedly threatened to have Heart trolled by fan clubs. On their way back to Manila from the shoot, the two have allegedly sorted things out. But when they got to the airport, Heart’s mom reportedly came with security personnel to her daughter’s rescue, and then demanded Marian to stay away from Heart.

Through the years, the stars have had cat fights fueled by their fans’ comparisons — ranging from their magazine covers, to their sexy calendars, to their similar-looking Dolce & Gabbana shirts that made fans argue “Who wore it better?”

Fast-forward to 2018, the rivalry between the two has been refreshed following Dingdong’s possible participation in the 2019 elections. “If Dingdong wins as congressman or senator, what will Marian and Heart do if they bump into each other at the State of the Nation Address (SONA) red carpet?” some reports ask.

During the recent opening of Longchamp’s new boutique in Rustan’s Makati, Philstar.com asked Heart on what she feels about Marian now and this is what she said.

“I don’t have anything to do with that,” Heart first said.

What if she and Marian see each other at the senate, in which Heart’s husband Sen. Francis Escudero is a member?

“I have no comment. But for me, I’m pretty traumatized with what she did to me before, so I’d rather not have anything to do with them,” Heart explained.

The actress, however, shared her experience as a politician’s wife, which Marian could also experience if Dingdong would become a politician.

In the following video, Heart explains on why she does not want to join her husband in politics.

A few days after the interview with Heart, Marian was asked by Philstar.com on what she thinks about Heart and Karylle, Dindong’s ex. This is how the actress responded in an interview following her launch as Mega Prime ambassador.

“Wala naman kaming problemang dalawa and we are okay. Kasi hindi naman kami magplaplastikan kung magkita kami,” Marian said of Karylle. “Past is past, my God, it’s been 11 years!”

When asked about Heart, Marian said: “Since Day 1 din, wala akong problema sa kanya, to be honest. At wala kayong narining sa’kin anything about her. Hindi ko lang alam sa kanya ha.”
