Senator Cynthia Villar went viral after a video of her allegedly confronting a rival inside a church emerged online.

In a short video circulating online taken inside a church in Las Piñas City, Senator Cynthia Villar was seen from the other part of the church walking towards Councilor Mark Anthony Santos. A now-viral video showed that the wife of billionaire Manny Villar left her pew and stormed towards the councilor’s direction and it appeared she confronted him.

The councilor is running against her in 2025 for the lone congressional seat of Las Piñas.

The incident happened inside the Our Lady of Fatima Church in Barangay Pamplona Dos. Vice Mayor April Aguilar was also there who immediately distanced herself upon seeing the senator walking towards them. She was sitting beside Santos and quickly left her seat.

In an interview, the outgoing senator was asked about the viral incident and denied confronting the councilor. She explained that she was just “positioned next” to Santos. It was seen in the video, however, that she walked briefly toward Santos as she was seated in a different pew a bit far from him.

However, she admitted that early on, she told him not to come near her or even try to start a handshake.

“Hindi ko sinugod, katabi ko eh. Kasi sila ang nagbabayad sa media ng paninira sa aming pamilya. Bakit pa niya ako lalapitan at kakamayan? Wag na niya akong batiin, sinabi ko sa kanya ‘yun. Wag mo na akong batiin kasi sinisiraan niyo naman ang pamilya namin,” Villar said.
