The secret behind Belle’s music, the audience was shocked by the shock she received/hi

Hugot' đằng sau âm nhạc của Belle Mariano

A recording album is no ordinary feat, especially for someone profound like Belle Mariano, who wishes to evoke emotions and inspiration through her music. The Kapamilya beauty has come up with her sophomore album called “Somber.” And by the title itself, the songs included carry a gloomy and painful vibe, so the listeners can certainly relate.

Belle mentioned that “Somber” is the first of a two-part album series. The second part called “Solemn” is slated for release in January 2024. She said that the two-part album is her brainchild together with music producers Roxy Liquigan and Rox Santos, and singer-songwriters Cesca, Trisha Denise, and Jeremy G. She was involved in conceptualizing and writing the songs. She mentioned that they intended “Somber” to sound dark and heartbreaking, a stark contrast to her previous album, “Daylight,” which was fun and playful. Besides, “Somber” precedes “Solemn,” akin to how a dark season comes before happiness in real life.

Plucked from slice-of-life scenarios, every song in Belle’s “Somber” album is perfect for your ‘saksak-puso’ playlist. She co-wrote “Roadtrip,” which is perfect to listen to after a fresh breakup. Belle got the concept from a quote that goes like this, “You may walk the same pace with the same person but you might will to different directions.”

Session Road” also brims with hurt. Cesca wrote it inspired by the famous route in Baguio City. Don’t be fooled by its light tempo because you will drown in heartbreak once you dive deep into its lyrics.

Pagsamantala” was based on the story of Ayef, Belle’s character in the film “An Inconvenient Love.” It basically reminds listeners that you can’t choose who you fall in love with.

Listen to “Running Out of Time” when you feel like there’s never enough time. And for more dose of hope, check out “Bugambilya,” which is a song about God and finding light amidst dark times.
Finally, “Somber and Solemn” was written by her, Trisha Denise, and Jeremy G. As the story goes, Belle had a concept in no time.  However, she struggled with putting her thoughts and feelings into words. “’Yung pagsulat namin nito, it really revolved around our faith, Parang, huwag mong labanan ‘yung current, magpadala ka, since the whole setup of the song was nasa dagat.” Cute story: they incorporated “Finding Nemo” into the theme. “I came across this theory na the meaning of Nemo daw is no one. Sabi ko, well, you really don’t need anyone. You just need yourself and God.”

She further explained, “Parang ito ‘yung song na tatawid into the next album din na “Solemn.” Despite what you are going through in life, there’s always this peace and calmness that you can look forward to. It doesn’t mean na may alat man ‘yung buhay mo ay hindi mo na maaabot ‘yung shore.”

She’s grateful for the chance to step into the whole production process and write her own songs. “I see it as art. I see it na, parang, maybe through my music I can inspire other people,” expressed Belle, who struggled to pick just one favorite in the album. She said that it wouldn’t be “Somber” if you omit one song from it.

Belle hopes that her songs remind listeners to hold on despite the strong current they are going through, because at the end of it comes stillness.
