Lipat muna sa kabila — Vice Ganda’s funny reaction to broken ‘Showtime’ prop

In a display of his usual quick wit, comedian Vice Ganda managed to bridge an awkward gap during the Friday episode of “It’s Showtime,” when a prop used during the Miss Q&A pageant segment malfunctioned.

In a hilarious moment on ‘It’s Showtime’ Friday, Vice Ganda joked that viewers should switch channels first while a broken prop is being fixed on the Kapamilya show. ABS-CBN

During the “Tumpak, Ganern” round of the pageant, contestants race to hit their respective buzzers to be the first to answer questions from the hosts. The first two contestants to correctly answer proceed to face off in the succeeding round, eliminating one in the process.

However, during the episode, one of the 3 buzzers appeared to be broken. Whereas the two others lit up and buzzed when pressed, the middle one only triggered a sound but didn’t light up.

What followed was an awkward few minutes where Vice Ganda and co-host Anne Curtis decided with staff how to go about the segment. Repairmen also scrambled to the stage to fix the prop.

Vice Ganda, however, effortlessly made light of the moment, blurting out words unexpected to be heard on the noontime show — including the title of “It’s Showtime’s” rival program, “Eat Bulaga.” He even addressed the “dabarkads,” a term used on “Eat Bulaga” to endearingly call its audience and hosts.

The box-office star’s comedic “rant” had the audience cheering.

Ultimately, Vice Ganda and Curtis were advised to keep on with the segment using the same prop. They explained that if the broken buzzer were pressed first, it would still disable the other two anyway, only that it wouldn’t emit a light.
