John Terry aimed a brutal dig at Zlatan Ibrahimovic after seeing a quote from the legendary striker on why never signed for Chelsea during his career.

Ibrahimovic is now a senior advisor to the board at AC Milan, after bringing his playing career to a close at the Italian club in 2023.

In July, his son Maximilian signed his first professional contract with Milan, and is currently playing for their youth team.

He will hope to follow in the footsteps of his father, who made over 100 appearances across three spells at Milan, scoring 76 goals.

The Italian giants were one of nine clubs he played for during his career, which also spanned spells at Milan’s great rivals, Inter Milan and Juventus.

Ibrahimovic would also play in Spain with Barcelona, in the Netherlands with Ajax, and in France with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Swede did spend 18 months in English football with Manchester United – but they were the only Premier League club he ever represented.

On social media, a quote purportedly from Ibrahimovic has re-circulated in recent days, with the striker explaining why he never signed for Chelsea.

The quote reads: “Chelsea couldn’t sign me. I have more trophies than Chelsea. They should have been the ones signing me.”

In response, former Chelsea captain Terry took to Instagram to tag in Didier Drogba, before brutally replying: “He didn’t want to be on the bench.”

Ibrahimovic had previously made his feelings clear on Chelsea’s players back in 2015, when the Blues took on his PSG side in a Champions League match.

He was shown a straight red card during the quarter-final second leg, which PSG drew to go through on away goals, for a foul on Oscar.

He said after the game: “The worst is when I got the red card, all the Chelsea players come around. It felt like I had a lot of babies around me.”
