Kathryn Bernardo Reacted to Mean Comments with Dolly de Leon and We Love Her Positive Energy

A basher said she can’t act without a love team.

There’s no denying that Kathryn Bernardo is one of the most acclaimed Filipino actresses of this generation. Despite her impressive acting portfolio and numerous acting recognitions, there are still some naysayers who doubt her acting chops.

In particular, many bashers claim that Kathryn’s roles are only limited to her love team projects with reel-to-real partner Daniel Padilla. To address the criticism, the 27-year-old star recently read through mean comments with A Very Good Girl co-star Dolly De Leon in an ABS-CBN Star Cinema vlog.

“[Si] Daniel humahakot ng acting awards from a legit award-giving bodies pero [si] kathryn na [stuck] sa love team awards only.  Kasi hindi kayang tumayo mag isa na walang [love team],” one netizen wrote.

Shaking off the negative comment, Kathryn laughed and said that she’s just as proud of her boyfriend’s achievements. “I’m happy for Deej,” she said. “Hindi naman big deal din sa’kin ‘yung mga award as long as gusto ko ‘yung ginawa ko.” 

When Dolly reminded the basher that there’s no point in comparing, Kathryn agreed and added, “It’s not [a competition], darling. But we’re happy for them.”

The next comment that she read out accused her of relying on her love team’s fame and ticket sales. It read, “Ayan na naman sila sa highest gross kuno. Wala talagang ibang panangga mga hambog war freak fans ni Kathryn. Alam kasi nilang walang panama idol nila when it comes to best acting, iisa nga lang award ng idol nila may kahati pa.”

“Saan ka pupunta next week? Sa Korea, diba? Kung saan tatanggap ng award?” Dolly half-jokingly asked Kathryn, referring to her latest nomination for Outstanding Asian Star at the Seoul International Drama Awards. 

With another chuckle, Kathryn graciously acknowledged that her awards are indeed shared with DJ, and she finds no fault in that at all. “Ka-half ko pa rin si Deej doon technically kasi project namin ‘yung 2 Good [2 Be True.] Half pa rin ‘yun, sana enough na ‘yun sa inyo,” she stated.

She added, “Sinabi niya pinadaan daw sa gross but hindi namin ‘yun iniisip ngayon sa buong promo na ‘to.” Similarly, another basher described Kathryn’s acting as “pabebe” and “walang deep,” advising her to “reinvent” herself while she’s still in her twenties.

“Ito na, makikita nila sa A Very Good Girl ‘yung hinahanap nito,” Dolly replied. Nodding her head in agreement, Kathryn said, “‘Yung pabebe, naku, itigil na natin ‘yan.”

“Insult ‘yung pababe diba? Kasi pabebe ka sa boyfriend mo, pabebe ka sa mga tao, parang pa-baby ka. Pero pa-baby ako,” she admitted unapologetically. “Gusto ko nagpapa-baby!”
