Paulo Avelino reveals dating Janine Gutierrez in the past: 'Parang nasaktan ako' | PUSH.COM.PH

With his rom-com series Marry Me Marry You now entering its second season starting November 15, lead star Paulo Avelino admitted he didn’t expect anything after wrapping up lock-in taping for the first season of the series earlier this year.

“Actually, hindi ko nga alam na may season two pala kami. Kasi pag dumadating yung script sa amin bulko bulko na. So isang latag namin tinitingnan so siyempre yung management and production yung nag-de-decide kung saan pupunta yung season 2. Pero based sa mag nakikita kong mga art cards and trailers na pinapalabas, masaya pa rin pero siyempre sa isang buhay or relasyon hindi naman puwedeng masaya lang. So dito na nagsisidatingan yung mga problema na yung iba unexpected, yung iba expected. Yung iba parang pagkakamali ng iba or pagkakamali ng iba and yung iba nadadamay. So maraming mga aabangan and maraming mga mangyayari na ikakagulat ng audience natin,” he shared during the Marry Me Marry You mediacon last November 10.

Paulo also shared how surprised he and leading lady Janine Gutierrez were at the positive reception of fans to their first teleserye together. “I didn’t expect it like the Kathniels or the Lizquens. Pero parang I was expecting something for the show or because of the show or what they watched. I didn’t expect na ganito kagrabe yung sumusuporta sa love team ika nga. I’m thankful because it goes to show that the chemistry worked and the show is working,” he said.

Before working on the teleserye, Paulo said he and Janine had worked on a still unreleased movie project together.

“Si Janine actually nung pelikula hindi naman kasi rin naka lock-in kasi pre-pandemic shoot yun. Siyempre pagdating namin ng set puro trabaho din kagad. Pero dito kasi dahil may mga oras in between, may mga rest day kami, nakakapag-usap kami, nakakapag-kuwentuhan kami, nakakakain kami sabay sabay. Parang mas nakikilala mo din hindi lang si Janine kundi pati yung personalities ng buong cast and masaya. Sana nagtagal pa yung shoot namin pero natapos kaya medyo nalulungkot ako ngayon. It’s different. Different roles din kasi. That’s why I was so excited for the movie to come out dahil parang life story ko din yun in a way and napakaganda din ni Janine sa pelikula. But this one’s different. It’s something na napagdadaanan na experience ng pangkaraniwang tao na kahit sino man dito sa atin. Janine just keeps getting better and better. She adapts sa kung anong role ibigay sa kanya and I’m proud of her,” he shared.

During the mediacon, when asked if he would ever consider courting Janine if they were both single, the 33-year-old kapamilya actor replied in the affirmative, while at the same time divulging a time when they could have become more than just friends.

“Ako no questions asked. Alam ko itatanggi na naman ako ni Janine, lumabas kami dati hindi lang natuloy. Kung mangyayari itong pagkakataon na ito na single siya at single ako then okay. Kasi sinabi ko nag-date kami ni Janine dati tapos sabi niya, ‘Hindi ah, nag-hang out lang tayo’ so parang nasaktan ako kasi hang out lang pala yung dalawang beses tayo lumabas,” he teased.

Marry Me, Marry You airs weeknights with its second season starting November 15 at an earlier timeslot at 8:40 pm on the Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5, and Kapamilya Online Live on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. Viewers who use any digital TV box at home such as the TVplus box only need to rescan their device to be able to watch the show on TV5 and A2Z. Its episodes are also available on iWantTFC, WeTV, and iflix, and on The Filipino Channel on cable and IPTV for viewers outside of the Philippines.
