Diana Zubiri Reveals Her Ex-Husband Didn’t Receive Their Firstborn Right Away
In an episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Diana Zubiri shared an emotional story about her late husband, Alex Lopez, and their firstborn son, King. According to Diana, they had a difficult experience when they gave birth to King with cleft lip and palate, or the condition where the child has a hole in his lips and gums as well as his palate.
“I gave birth to my firstborn with a cleft lip and palate. So, it means his lips are open and his gums underneath are also open; his palate,” Diana explained, seemingly in disbelief at their son’s condition. She added that it was a big shock to her and her husband, especially to her.
Her husband Alex was not able to accept their son’s condition right away. “He [Alex] did not accept it right away. It was hard to accept. But, well, it was okay after a while,” Diana said. According to Diana, she understands her husband’s feelings, because she also had these emotions at first.
So as a protection for King, Diana did not immediately inform King about her birth and their son’s condition. She avoided releasing their private life to the public because she wanted to protect their child. She also gave an explanation for why there was a problem in her relationship with Alex.
“That was actually the main reason why we broke up,” Diana said. According to the actress, their son King’s condition was the reason for their disagreement, which led to their divorce. “And then I got my son back. He didn’t see it,” she added. But despite the initial difficulties, they had a chance to forgive and reconcile.
Before Alex passed away in 2010 due to liver cirrhosis, they had a chance to talk and she was able to introduce King to Alex. According to Diana, these were the last moments they had the opportunity to be together as a family, so even though it was difficult, they learned to accept and forgive in the end.
In this story of Diana, she shows the importance of accepting the trials of life and how she moved on for her son. Having a strong perspective as a mother and forgiveness have been an important part of their journey, and have served as a strength that has strengthened her despite the trials that have come to her family.
