Heart Evangelista has been making a name for herself as a painter—which actually started out as an “accident.” 

The actress, endorser, and model revealed in the second part of their interview with broadcaster Karen Davila that her painting career started as an outlet to simmer down her thoughts about the next stage of her career.

“It was an accident because I just stopped thinking of what I needed to do for my career. So, I just started to paint,” Evangelista said.

 

According to the actress, the value of her paintings starts at P200,000. She recently sold a painting that’s worth P3 million for an unnamed school.

Evangelista also revealed that she earns the most from her hand-painted bags which start at P200,000. Currently, she stopped creating hand-painted bags since she wanted them to be “limited edition.”

“A lot of my expenses from my bags and stuff came from my paintings because it started as ‘Don’t touch your savings, you’re only going to spend your painting money.’ This motivated me more because I started thinking, ‘I have to paint more,’” the actress said.

The actress also shared a painting that will be sold digitally as a non-fungible token (NFT) that’s worth $3 million (P149 million) or “even higher.” However, the painting itself is not for sale.
A digital version of this painting will be sold as an NFT.
“I can’t sell (this painting) because whoever ends up buying it, the painting can go to them. Some artists, what they do is that they sell the (digital painting) and destroy the original painting so it becomes more expensive,” Evangelista explained.

She also added: “Just being part of the NFT group and what they do is already such a privilege. Even if they don’t buy it, I can keep the painting. And one day, I’ll sell it.”
Evangelista did this painting when she was only 12 years old. 
The actress recalled her childhood memories with a painting of an orange that she did with the Ayala Museum in 1997.

Evangelista also unveiled a “special” painting that was featured in Harper’s Bazaar USA. She noted that it wasn’t commissioned since she was approached by its former editor to create a painting inspired by luxury brand Dior.

The actress-endorser has always been vocal about her passion for painting. Back in November 2018, she unveiled the hours-long process of painting on designer bags in a YouTube vlog.
