Liza Soberano, Enrique Gil’s comeback project in the works
Liza Soberano is set to work again with her onscreen partner Enrique Gil on an undisclosed project, although she clarified that they are coming up with the right concept that will suit them both.
Soberano spoke about her comeback project with Gil on the February 7 broadcast of ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol, saying that it will be released “in the next year or two.”
“We’re trying to come up with a concept we can do together in the future, and I can guarantee that it’s going to be in the next year or two because the concept that we’re coming up with needs to be fleshed out,” she said.
The actress added that she’s open to accepting a teleserye and that she wants to do “different kinds of characters and genres.”
“I’m definitely open to doing a teleserye. I think it just comes down to the concept. I’m at the stage where I [want to do] different kinds of characters and genres. I’m just looking for anything that excites me and is like kizada (different),” she said.
Soberano, who’s now based in the United States, has been carving a path for herself in Hollywood. She has since starred in “Lisa Frankenstein” with Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse.
The actress was previously part of Careless Music, an entertainment company co-founded by James Reid until her departure in July 2024. She signed with the Singapore-based management group WILD in November of the same year.
In November 2024, Gil said he and Soberano are in talks about starring in a horror film, although he disclosed further details. Weeks later, he declined to answer questions about the actress during the promotions of the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital,” clarifying that he didn’t want to use her for promo.
Soberano and Gil have been hounded with separation rumors since 2023, which have been denied by the actor in February 2024.
