Belle Mariano and Donny Pangilinan Talk About the Moment They Knew They Wanted to Be in Showbiz
It was very different for both of them!
Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano filled our screens in 2021. They starred in their first series, He’s into Her, which became *very* successful. They also recently starred in their newly released movie, Love Is Color Blind.
Before they became the stars that we know them to be, however, they had very different stories about what sparked their interest in showbiz. On At Home With Anthony And Maricel hosted by Donny’s parents, Anthony Pangilinan and Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, Donny’s dad asked DonBelle when they realized they wanted to be in showbiz.
For Belle, acting has always been her passion. “Ever since I was a kid, talagang haharap ako sa mirror, aacting ako. ‘Pag may family reunion, ako yung pupunta sa platform at magpe-perform in front of everyone.” She stressed that she really loves entertaining people and that’s when she realized that it was the industry for her.
Meanwhile for Donny, it took him a while to realize that he wanted to join showbiz. He wasn’t like Belle who knew from a young age that she wanted to do this. “To be honest, growing up, seeing the set, going with you guys, it was kind of in the back of my head but I never really thought about it. It’s like you know, I was an introvert kasi. I was shy, I didn’t really think it’s possible,” he shared.
After probing from his parents on the exact moment he realized he wanted to join showbiz, Donny said that it was around junior year of high school. Anthony shared that Donny’s classmates would see his post and they would say, “seryosa ka,” further challenging him. Donny added, “Yeah my friends were like, ‘what are you posting?’ Doon nag-start siguro.”
Whether their calling to showbiz was second nature or needed a bit more time, we are glad that they took the plunge and went for it. Now, we get to enjoy their series and their new movie (and who know, maybe more in the future!).
