Kathryn Bernardo tells an eye-opening story about the reality of being an actress in the Philippines.

Kathryn Bernardo is one of the many public figures that the showbiz-loving Pinoys have witnessed growing up. Filipinos saw her blossom from being a child star who charmed hearts with her cute antics into being one of the most beautiful, talented women of her generation.

But like her fellow stars, Kathryn Bernardo does not keep the reality of being a celebrity to the public secret. She opened up about her experiences as an actress during her Fast Talk with Boy Abunda interview aired on October 28, 2024.

“What is the good and the bad about being Kathryn [Bernardo]?” Boy Abunda asks the actress.

Kathryn Bernardo thought for a few seconds about her answer before saying, “The good [is] I’m doing my passion [and] I’m doing this profession as an actor. [It is] something I want, something I love, [and] at the same time, napapasaya mo ‘yung mga tao.”

“’Di mo alam ‘yung impact na nagagawa [mo] sa ibang tao while doing the thing that I love the most, which is acting,” she added, “so it’s like a win-win situation…”

However, Kathryn also shared that acting, indeed, has its downsides.

She told Tito Boy, “It can get really, really overwhelming, and I’m talking about people around you; na everyone — alam ko naman na it’s all coming from love, lahat sila [ay] gusto what’s best for me, [and they] don’t want me to experience this again […] — but it’s hard because they’re not giving me, parang [there is] no room for mistakes.”

Kathryn Bernardo also reflected on the differences between an artist and an average person in terms of making big decisions in her life.

“Kapag normal person ka, puwede kang matuto on your own without the whole world watching you, but now, with this job, it’s like, ‘pag magkamali ka, kapag masaktan ka, kapag meron kang decision sa life, lahat ng tao [ay] involved doon sa buhay mo, lahat sila may opinyon sa buhay mo,” she shared.

“I think that’s a bit sad,” Kathryn noted, “Sometimes it’s hard for me to make decisions because, instead of just me thinking of myself, iniisip ko ‘Paano kayo?’”
