It’s been years since actress-singer Karylle and actor Dingdong Dantes broke up, but back when the wounds were still fresh, Karylle chose not to talk about the issue and instead strived to move on with her life. In an interview with Boy Abunda for the news program Bandila on November 9, PEP.ph reports that she finally opened up and talked about how she survived the breakup and got to where she is now.

Akala ko I’ll be hiding under a rock. I have to migrate or whatever,” she shared with Boy, stating that she thought it would take her a while to recover from the breakup. In the end, however, she managed to get through it.

“I prayed, I prayed a lot,” Karylle said. “Nag-retreat ako. I faced every fear that I had. I was thankful na I was surrounded by so [many] people who love me. I think [the] grace of God also just pulled me through.”Karylle told Boy about the poems she wrote before about her pain. “Siguro, long after, I was still writing things that hurt me. But at least I dealt with it and I was very, very honest with myself,” she explained.

Now, for her, everything is in the past. She and Dingdong might not be friends, but they’ve texted each other twice. “Kumbaga, naparating ko na sa kanya na, ‘Okay na lahat, ha.’ Parang ganun. Kasi ayoko namang isipin niya na galit pa ako or anything. (It’s like I was able to tell him, ‘Everything’s okay.’ That kind of thing. Because I don’t want him to think I’m still angry or anything.)”

In fact, she and Dingdong remain business partners for videoke bar Centerstage. “We’re putting up our third branch,” she said.

Karylle is currently rumored to be Spongecola frontman Yael Yuzon‘s girlfriend, but she stayed mum about the status of their relationship. “Ayoko kasi umamin ng anything. I think right now siguro I learned from oversharing from the past.”
