Barbie Imperial seemed to have found her way into another word war with a netizen.

It all started when Barbie posted some sentiments on her official Facebook account in Bikol. The 25-year-old actress is a fluent speaker of the Bikol language as she spent most of her childhood in Albay.

On June 2, 2024, Barbie wrote in her Facebook post, “midbid nyo si morning good *crying emoji* dae ko na sya naiilig miss ko na sya.” For those who cannot understand it, the last part seems intriguing as it says that Barbie is missing someone.

In Tagalog, Barbie’s post meant, “Kilala nyo si ‘morning good’, ‘di ko na sya nakikita, miss ko na sya,” According to Bikolanos, Morning Good is a well-loved personality known within their province and among those who studied in Bicol University. Morning Good is known for jumbling words in their sentences—hence the reverse order of the phrase “good morning”.

Barbie’s post included more Bikol phrases. “*ginapo ki gapo*” which translates to “*binato ng bato*”; and also, “Dae nyo pag mudahon bayaaaa” which means, “‘Wag niyo murahin.”

Netizen calls out Barbie Imperial for posting in Bikol language

It’s all fun and games for Barbie and her followers until one netizen pointed out her use of Bikol. They criticized Barbie for posting something that was not understood by the general public.

The comment read, “Basic human courtesy is using a language that everyone can understand in public. I think this is also applicable in writing where the public is expected to read it.”

It might sound like a respectful comment, but Barbie was not having it. She immediately replied to the comment by saying, “ribok” which again is a word from the Bikol language. It means, “Ingay” in Tagalog. In other words, she complained about how noisy the netizen was under her post.

Afterward, Barbie responded to the comment again. She clearly wrote, “I’m just trying to communicate with my people.” Barbie even put a smiley emoji to somehow lighten up her clapback.

This is not the first time that Barbie made some clapbacks to netizens. Recently, the actress encountered one netizen who pointed out her stretch marks.

The netizen’s comment that should’ve just stayed in drafts read, “May stretch mark na din pala kahit di pa nanganak.”

Unfazed, Barbie made the most chill response: “It’s normal :).”

There was also one time when someone made fun of how her boobs weren’t pantay. Barbie took to Twitter to react, saying: “Bakit ‘di pantay na dede sobrang big deal.” We agree! Boobies come in all shapes and sizes—they’re sisters, not twins, after all.
